The Towns of Camborne and Redruth and the Parishes of Illogan and Carn Brea sign an agreement to work towards forging closer cultural ties with Pachuca, Real del Monte and the State of Hidalgo, Mexico.

The Agreement was signed by on behalf of the State of Hidalgo, City of Pachuca and Town of Real del Monte by State Minister Snr. Jorge Romero and on behalf of Camborne, Redruth and the Parishes by: Mrs. Wendy Lawrence (Chairman Kerrier District Council); Mr. Len Pascoe (Mayor of Redruth); Tony Bunce (Chairman Camborne Town Council); Mrs. Diane Cousins (Chairman Carn Bea Parish Council); Mr. Graham Ford (Chairman Illogan Parish Council) on 4th February 2001.

The Municipalities of Pachuca and Real del Monte and the State of Hidalgo wish to reinforce their historic cultural links with the mining communities in Cornwall. The Cornish Mexican Cultural Society is working to develop closer cultural links and greater understanding of the history of Cornish involvement within Latin America.
